The Chronicler spends a lot of time telling us what happened with the tribes of Judah, Levi, and Benjamin because he thinks these guys made up the “real Israel.” Those other 10 tribes? Not so much. Anyway, Benjamin had tons of offspring, but the big standout here is his descendant Saul, who became the first king of Israel. Saul also had a son named Jonathan who was David’s best friend.
