They were mystified because everyone heard them speaking in their native languages. 7They were surprised and amazed, saying, \u201cLook, aren\u2019t all the people who are speaking Galileans, every one of them? 8How then can each of us hear them speaking in our native language? 9Parthians, Medes, and Elamites; as well as residents of Mesopotamia, Judea, and Cappadocia, Pontus and Asia, 10Phrygia and Pamphylia, Egypt and the regions of Libya bordering Cyrene; and visitors from Rome (both Jews and converts to Judaism), 11Cretans and Arabs\u2014we hear them declaring the mighty works of God in our own languages!\u201d 12They were all surprised and bewildered. Some asked each other, \u201cWhat does this mean?\u201d 13Others jeered at them, saying, \u201cThey\u2019re full of new wine!\u201d 14Peter stood with the other eleven apostles. He raised his voice and declared, \u201cJudeans and everyone living in Jerusalem! Know this! Listen carefully to my words! 15These people aren\u2019t drunk, as you suspect; after all, it\u2019s only nine o\u2019clock in the morning! 16Rather, this is what was spoken through the prophet Joel: 17\u201cIn the last days, God says,\u201d \u201cI will pour out my Spirit on all people.\u201d \u201cYour sons and daughters will prophesy.\u201d \u201cYour young will see visions.\u201d \u201cYour elders will dream dreams.\u201d 18\u201cEven upon my servants, men and women,\u201d \u201cI will pour out my Spirit in those days,\u201d \u201cand they will prophesy.\u201d 19\u201cI will cause wonders to occur in the heavens above\u201d \u201cand signs on the earth below,\u201d \u201cblood and fire and a cloud of smoke.\u201d 20\u201cThe sun will be changed into darkness,\u201d \u201cand the moon will be changed into blood,\u201d \u201cbefore the great and spectacular day of the Lord comes.\u201d 21\u201cAnd everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.\u201d 22\u201cFellow Israelites, listen to these words! Jesus the Nazarene was a man whose credentials God proved to you through miracles, wonders, and signs, which God performed through him among you. You yourselves know this. 23In accordance with God\u2019s established plan and foreknowledge, he was betrayed. You, with the help of wicked men, had Jesus killed by nailing him to a cross. 24God raised him up! God freed him from death\u2019s dreadful grip, since it was impossible for death to hang on to him. 25David says about him, \u201cI foresaw that the Lord was always with me;\u201d \u201cbecause he is at my right hand I won\u2019t be shaken.\u201d 26\u201cTherefore, my heart was glad\u201d \u201cand my tongue rejoiced.\u201d \u201cMoreover, my body will live in hope,\u201d 27\u201cbecause you won\u2019t abandon me to the grave,\u201d \u201cnor permit your holy one to experience decay.\u201d 28\u201cYou have shown me the paths of life;\u201d \u201cyour presence will fill me with happiness.\u201d 29\u201cBrothers and sisters, I can speak confidently about the patriarch David. He died and was buried, and his tomb is with us to this very day. 30Because he was a prophet, he knew that God promised him with a solemn pledge to seat one of his descendants on his throne. 31Having seen this beforehand, David spoke about the resurrection of Christ, that \u201che wasn\u2019t abandoned to the grave, nor did his body experience decay\u201d. 32This Jesus God raised up. We are all witnesses to that fact. 33He was exalted to God\u2019s right side and received from the Father the promised Holy Spirit. He poured out this Spirit, and you are seeing and hearing the results of his having done so. 34David didn\u2019t ascend into heaven. Yet he says, \u201cThe Lord said to my Lord, \u2018Sit at my right side,\u201d 35\u201cuntil I make your enemies a footstool for your feet.\u2019\u201d 36\u201cTherefore, let all Israel know beyond question that God has made this Jesus, whom you crucified, both Lord and Christ.\u201d 37When the crowd heard this, they were deeply troubled. They said to Peter and the other apostles, \u201cBrothers, what should we do?\u201d 38Peter replied, \u201cChange your hearts and lives. Each of you must be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. Then you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. 39This promise is for you, your children, and for all who are far away\u2014as many as the Lord our God invites.\u201d 40With many other words he testified to them and encouraged them, saying, \u201cBe saved from this perverse generation.\u201d 41Those who accepted Peter\u2019s message were baptized. God brought about three thousand people into the community on that day. Matthew <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=D9_nWP0c5ao&amp;t=394s\">6:34<\/a> Therefore, stop worrying about tomorrow, because tomorrow will worry about itself.
