Whoever follows me won\u2019t walk in darkness but will have the light of life.\u201d 13Then the Pharisees said to him, \u201cBecause you are testifying about yourself, your testimony isn\u2019t valid.\u201d 14Jesus replied, \u201cEven if I testify about myself, my testimony is true, since I know where I came from and where I\u2019m going. You don\u2019t know where I come from or where I\u2019m going. 15You judge according to human standards, but I judge no one. 16Even if I do judge, my judgment is truthful, because I\u2019m not alone. My judgments come from me and from the Father who sent me. 17In your Law it is written that the witness of two people is true. 18I am one witness concerning myself, and the Father who sent me is the other.\u201d 19They asked him, \u201cWhere is your Father?\u201d Jesus answered, \u201cYou don\u2019t know me and you don\u2019t know my Father. If you knew me, you would also know my Father.\u201d 20He spoke these words while he was teaching in the temple area known as the treasury. No one arrested him, because his time hadn\u2019t yet come. 21Jesus continued, \u201cI\u2019m going away. You will look for me, and you will die in your sin. Where I\u2019m going, you can\u2019t come.\u201d 22The Jewish leaders said, \u201cHe isn\u2019t going to kill himself, is he? Is that why he said, \u2018Where I\u2019m going, you can\u2019t come\u2019?\u201d 23He said to them, \u201cYou are from below; I\u2019m from above. You are from this world; I\u2019m not from this world. 24This is why I told you that you would die in your sins. If you don\u2019t believe that I Am, you will die in your sins.\u201d 25\u201cWho are you?\u201d they asked. Jesus replied, \u201cI\u2019m exactly who I have claimed to be from the beginning. 26I have many things to say in judgment concerning you. The one who sent me is true, and what I have heard from him I tell the world.\u201d 27They didn\u2019t know he was speaking about his Father. 28So Jesus said to them, \u201cWhen the Human One is lifted up, then you will know that I Am. Then you will know that I do nothing on my own, but I say just what the Father has taught me. 29He who sent me is with me. He doesn\u2019t leave me by myself, because I always do what makes him happy.\u201d 30While Jesus was saying these things, many people came to believe in him.
