He didn\u2019t want to travel in Judea, because the Jewish authorities wanted to kill him. 2When it was almost time for the Jewish Festival of Booths, 3Jesus\u2019 brothers said to him, \u201cLeave Galilee. Go to Judea so that your disciples can see the amazing works that you do. 4Those who want to be known publicly don\u2019t do things secretly. Since you can do these things, show yourself to the world.\u201d 5His brothers said this because even they didn\u2019t believe in him. 6Jesus replied, \u201cFor you, anytime is fine. But my time hasn\u2019t come yet. 7The world can\u2019t hate you. It hates me, though, because I testify that its works are evil. 8You go up to the festival. I\u2019m not going to this one because my time hasn\u2019t yet come.\u201d 9Having said this, he stayed in Galilee. 10However, after his brothers left for the festival, he went too\u2014not openly but in secret. 11The Jewish leaders were looking for Jesus at the festival. They kept asking, \u201cWhere is he?\u201d 12The crowds were murmuring about him. \u201cHe\u2019s a good man,\u201d some said, but others were saying, \u201cNo, he tricks the people.\u201d 13No one spoke about him publicly, though, for fear of the Jewish authorities.
