John called two of his disciples 19and sent them to the Lord. They were to ask him, \u201cAre you the one who is coming, or should we look for someone else?\u201d 20When they reached Jesus, they said, \u201cJohn the Baptist sent us to you. He asks, \u2018Are you the one who is coming, or should we look for someone else?\u2019\u201d 21Right then, Jesus healed many of their diseases, illnesses, and evil spirits, and he gave sight to a number of blind people. 22Then he replied to John\u2019s disciples, \u201cGo, report to John what you have seen and heard.Those who were blind are able to see. Those who were crippled now walk. People with skin diseases are cleansed.Those who were deaf now hear. Those who were dead are raised up. And good news is preached to the poor. 23Happy is anyone who doesn\u2019t stumble along the way because of me.\u201d 24After John\u2019s messengers were gone, Jesus spoke to the crowds about John. \u201cWhat did you go out into the wilderness to see? A stalk blowing in the wind? 25What did you go out to see? A man dressed up in refined clothes? Look, those who dress in fashionable clothes and live in luxury are in royal palaces. 26What did you go out to see? A prophet? Yes, I tell you, and more than a prophet. 27He is the one of whom it\u2019s written:Look, I\u2019m sending my messenger before you, who will prepare your way before you. 28I tell you that no greater human being has ever been born than John. Yet whoever is least in God\u2019s kingdom is greater than he.\u201d 29Everyone who heard this, including the tax collectors, acknowledged God\u2019s justice because they had been baptized by John. 30But the Pharisees and legal experts rejected God\u2019s will for themselves because they hadn\u2019t been baptized by John. 31\u201cTo what will I compare the people of this generation?\u201d Jesus asked. \u201cWhat are they like? 32They are like children sitting in the marketplace calling out to each other, \u2018We played the flute for you and you didn\u2019t dance. We sang a funeral song and you didn\u2019t cry.\u2019 33John the Baptist came neither eating bread nor drinking wine, and you say, \u2018He has a demon.\u2019 34Yet the Human Onecame eating and drinking, and you say, \u2018Look, a glutton and a drunk, a friend of tax collectors and sinners.\u2019 35But wisdom is proved to be right by all her descendants.\u201d Joshua 1:9 I\u2019ve commanded you to be brave and strong, haven\u2019t I?
