He rejected the advice the elders had given him 14and spoke to them according to the young men\u2019s advice: \u201cMy father made your yoke heavy, but I will add to your yoke; my father disciplined you with whips, but I will discipline you with barbed whips.\u201d 15The king did not listen to the people, because this turn of events came from the LordDt <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=73u-V8w55g8&amp;t=150s\">2:30<\/a>; 1Kg <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=73u-V8w55g8&amp;t=744s\">12:24<\/a> to carry out his word, which the Lord had spoken through Ahijah the Shilonite to Jeroboam son of Nebat.1Kg <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=73u-V8w55g8&amp;t=689s\">11:29<\/a>\u201339 16When all Israel saw that the king had not listened to them, the people answered him.
